In continuation with #WomenInConstructionWeek, we would like to highlight Kim Shackley, GWC’s Director of Human Resources and Recruitment Officer.
A great company culture is not built by accident – Kim ensures it grows stronger by bringing in professionals who fit seamlessly with GWC’s purpose and core values. She oversees recruitment as well as all aspects of employee benefits.
As Director of the employee-led #PeopleFirst Committee, Kim leads initiatives including stay interviews, annual performance reviews, company events, and team-building activities. Kim also participates in the Company’s Retirement Savings Plan Committee ensuring communication and fiduciary responsibilities that come with this responsibility. She is the first point of contact for feedback, healthcare questions, and other employee needs.
Kim has also spearheaded major initiatives such as workplace violence prevention programs and expanded workforce training. Known for her open-door policy, she is always approachable and committed to fostering a positive, supportive workplace culture. Kim personifies GWC’s values through her commitment to the servant leadership approach by which she manages and leads.
In recent years, Kim has led updates to GWC’s HR and payroll systems, modernizing processes that hadn’t changed in over 15 years. She has also guided the company through changes to its benefits brokers and providers, ensuring employees have access to the best benefits.
