Gray West Completes Escapology’s Flagship at Universal CityWalk Hollywood

Gray West Construction proudly announces the successful completion of Escapology’s newest flagship location at the iconic Universal CityWalk. Spanning 8,736 square feet, this intricate interior build-out features ten uniquely themed escape rooms, including licensed experiences with Scooby-Doo, Batman, and other classic murder mysteries.

Why Gray West Was the Right Builder for the Job

Gray West was uniquely positioned to deliver this complex build due to our longstanding relationship with Escapology and extensive experience working within Universal Studios and Universals CityWalk. Our team has completed four previous Escapology locations.

Because of our experience, our team understands the technical demands, restrictions, and logistical challenges of building within a high-security, high-traffic environment. Familiarity with Escapology’s brand standards, coupled with our ability to work around tight schedules and occupied spaces, made us the ideal general contractor for the job.

Project Highlights

  • Full interior build-out of an existing inline shell
  • Installation of new flooring, finishes, and custom lighting
  • Construction and coordination of ten immersive game rooms
  • Integration of custom-imported gear cogs and a feature chandelier designed in collaboration with Escapology and fabricated in the U.S.

Tools and Technology

We utilized Procore and HoloBuilder to facilitate real-time collaboration, documentation, and progress tracking. These tools enabled remote monitoring for the owner’s team and designers, reduced rework, and streamlined decision-making under tight deadlines.

Custom Craftsmanship

A defining visual element of this project is the installation of oversized gear cogs on the exterior and a dramatic gear cog chandelier on the second-floor balcony. Designed by Escapology’s creative team and fabricated in the U.S., these signature features came to life through seamless coordination between Gray West’s field teams and specialty vendors.
